Hi, I am Ashwathy, a Mixed Media Artist & Author from Mumbai, India.

I believe an 'Artist' narrates, shows, and depicts a story, theme, scene or an expressed emotion through their paints while a 'Writer' paints a picture with words. For me, Both the worlds are corelated and I am grateful to be able to express myself with paints as well as words. Managing and Nurturing both professions can be extremely demanding on many occasions, but that's the thrill of blending multiple forms of passion that gets turned into a career. Clearly the positive side of the pandemic has been learning to live in a hybrid world, so why not also a hybrid career

One always wonders when their tryst with painting began. Is it as a small toddler, when you were saddled with crayons and experiencing the joy of seeing something vibrant coming on the paper? Or those little doodling masterpieces you did at the back of your notebook in school? My journey of serious dabbling with paints started post motherhood. Yes, you read that right! No flirting with colours, but a serious passion to indulge with many shades, forms and mediums.

I have enjoyed every bit of the stage since I converted my passion into my profession in 2020. Presently I have been working mostly with Alcohol inks & Resin; but that doesn’t take away my love from Acrylics and Water colours.

I find immense joy in painting and I am hopeful that you too will see and feel that joy coming about as you navigate through my artworks & tutorials.

As a student one dreads writing during exams, mainly assuming that all what is in the mind gets translated well into those high scoring marks. Albeit it wasn’t the case at all times. But I never drifted away from making little contributions through short poems or some emotive writings to celebrate a dear one’s special occasion. Those were some random here's and there's and sometimes far and near. As they say serendipity comes unannounced. A dear friend urged me to explore and give my writing streak a more structured avatar.

My professional writing journey started in 2018 through a collaborative project named SHE (link to the Fb Page) led by Indian women across the globe. The project has seen three releases on every Women’s Day since 2019.

Apart from the above, I have had my writing works published in Anthologies titled ‘A Book Called Home’ and ‘Znana’.

Not only have I grown immensely in my understanding of trying to be a better writer, but the works around knowing the world of publishing helps one gain better sense of what to expect from a reader’s perspective as well. The early days of getting a reading habit inculcated is witnessing some results, as I am elated to see the home shelves with books where your works feature. This is a beginning well attempted and the journey here to is worth the travel.

So, in this 'arty' and 'writy' (no clue if these words even exist) worlds, I keep my other wandering passions of singing and recording music on Karaoke alive. There is a serious jostle, but what the heck, it’s just one lifetime to experience this. So be it! 😊
